Health Tourism Council President Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan published a message on the occasion of December 21-25 National Struggle and Martyrs Week.

Pointing out that the realities of December 21 and what they caused should not be forgotten, Savaşan pointed out that if a permanent agreement has still not been reached in Cyprus 55 years later, the real responsible parties, both internal and external, should be seen sincerely.

We owe our gains to our martyrs, our veterans, our heroes and our Turkey...

Stating that the December 21 process was an honorable resistance that included great suffering, Savaşan said, “If we can talk about the existence of the Turkish Cypriot People today and our state despite its shortcomings, we should never forget that we owe this to our beloved martyrs, veterans and our heroic country people and Turkey”.

Our most important achievement is our state.

Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that it is necessary to plan the future by always keeping in mind the realities of December 21, when the Republic of Cyprus was occupied, the Turkish Cypriots were expelled from the government, state employees were dismissed and tens of thousands of people were forced to migrate by putting the Akritas plan into effect with the aim of destroying the Turkish Cypriots and connecting the island to Greece, and that “our most important achievement is our state, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In order to look to the future with hope, we must protect our rights to the fullest and hold tightly to Turkey's effective and de facto guarantee.”.

At the end of his message, Savaşan said, “With the hope that the pain of December 21 will not be repeated again, we commemorate with mercy our martyrs who gave their lives for the freedom of the Turkish Cypriot People with the love of homeland, nation and unbreakable courage, and with gratitude to our veterans.”.
